What happens if I paste the wrong wallet address?

The critical importance of the "Copy and Paste" rule in non-automatic transactions.

On Walletix, the "Buy" process is not automatic. This means we do not automatically send your address to MoonPay; you must do it yourself. This is a critical security step, but it requires 100% accuracy.
Why Accuracy is Everything:
  • The "Burn" Risk: If you accidentally paste a character wrong, or paste an address for a different coin (like pasting a Bitcoin address for an Ethereum buy), those funds are sent into a "void" on the blockchain.
  • No "Undo" Button: Unlike a bank where you can dispute a charge, blockchain transactions are immutable. Once MoonPay sends the coins to the address you provided, they cannot be pulled back. Walletix support cannot "search" for them or recover them.
How to Stay Safe:
  1. Never Type Manually: Never try to type out the 40+ characters of a wallet address. One typo (like an 'O' instead of a '0') will lose your money.
  2. The "First & Last" Rule: After pasting your address into MoonPay, look at the first 4 characters and the last 4 characters. Compare them to the address shown in your Walletix app. If they match, you are safe to proceed.
  3. Check the Asset: Double-check that you are on the "Receive Bitcoin" screen if you are buying Bitcoin.
